rainy day reads

It’s raining, it’s pouring, and all I want to do is cosy up on the couch with a cup of Earl Grey and a good book. This is what my reading list looks like at the moment. I’m currently half way through Decline and Fall. Next up is Look At The Birdie, followed by the Andy Warhol book. Russh and Frankie are my ‘light reads’, to flick through in between all the more taxing stuff. What are you reading at the moment?

what shall i wear today?

Two things that make me happy: new books and nail polish. I had a David Jones gift card to use up thanks to one of those bank ‘award’ schemes where they’re all like “heyyyy you’ve racked up a couple of thousand on your credit card, here, have a measly $50 gift card on us” (better than nothing I suppose). So I used it to purchase this pretty little book featuring the most stylish bunny around – the one, the only – Fifi Lapin! I also picked up a new O.P.I nail polish in Do You Lilac It? Do I? Why yes, yes I do. Also, does anyone else think that a Fifi Lapin themed collection of O.P.I nail polishes would be one of the cutest things ever? That’s a collaboration just waiting to happen. I mean, if Shrek can have his own range of nail polishes

rainy days are for reading

Top-bottom: H.G. Wells – The Sleeper Awakes, H.G. Wells – The Shape of Things to Come, Isabelle Allende – The House of The Spirits, Russh #33, Russh #35, Dazed & Confused Vol #83

Rainy days + public holidays = perfect reading weather. It’s also the perfect weather for listening to The Smiths, eating homemade guava jelly on toast, and crafting pink marching-band inspired costumes (story for another day). Anyway, I’ve had these hired out from the library (bar the latest Russh, which I bought) for quite some time. I had to renew them just the other day. So I really should get cracking. I’ve been stuck on The Sleeper Awakes for ages now. Maybe if I stopped dancing around to The Smiths and eating so much toast…

Oh, look, the sun just came out…

i try to be like grace kelly

Gah, now I have that annoying Mika song stuck in my head. Anyway, I received this book for my birthday last week. I’m hoping that if I flick through it enough times, I’ll miraculously become as elegant and graceful as the book’s namesake. Kind of like the whole “sleeping with a textbook under your pillow” theory.

Just a quick “it’s my birthday today” post. These are a few bits and pieces that I received from my parents and close friends. I spent today with a few of the girls, catching up over a big brunch and then heading to the Finders Keepers markets. Once we had exhausted the markets, we spent the rest of the afternoon outside in the makeshift beer garden, listening to bands and eating cupcakes. It was pretty much my idea of the perfect day. I took a disposable camera to the markets and will get the film developed this week. Only problem is that the camera expired two years ago, so I’m not entirely sure how the photos will turn out. Here’s hoping!
