cosy in mustard

Cardigan: miss shop | Tank: country road | Scarf: present | Shorts: cheapo brand | Stockings: ? | Shoes: scooter

So yes, this is what I’m wearing today. I’m still trying to figure out how to use my fancy new camera. I got it for my birthday and it’s beautiful. I had been hinting at a D-SLR for some time, however the camera I got isn’t a D-SLR… it’s kind of a pseudo D-SLR. Looks like one, feels like one, except it’s basically a snazzy point and shoot camera with a super zoom. You can still adjust the aperture and shutter speed etc. but they’re in different places and yeah… I won’t go into my camera talk otherwise we’d be here all day.

merry little fancy thing

Initially, I intended for this to be a full ‘What I’m Wearing Today’ post. But I kind of chickened out. So you only get half of my outfit. To be honest, the only interesting thing was the scarf. All I did today was go to the gym, lounge around the house and go to the library to stock up on some books to read at my leisure (ah the joys of holidays) so I didn’t really put much effort into an outfit.

The scarf is from Tie Rack. I bought it because it reminded me of a scarf my mum used to own (it disappeared a long, long time ago). The vest is from Valleygirl, surprisingly. It was cheap. I liked it. Other than that I’m just wearing a plain tee from AA and s&b jeans (which you can’t really see. But they’re a really nice colour… a light, bright-but-not-too-bright blue). Without the scarf, the rest of the outfit was pretty dull. At first, I didn’t really think the scarf would work but I think it looked okay in the end.

diy floral full skirt

Having fallen into the floral trend, I decided to add a skirt to my little family of floral dresses. I also saw this as an opportunity to show off my sweet sewing skills – which, by the way, aren’t very sweet at all (mum had to intervene after about the 5th time I sewed the skirt to the sewing machine). When I saw this material I wasn’t sure whether I liked it or hated it. I’m still not sure. But I do like the finished product.

merry little fancy thing #1

I received this gorgeous bunch of flowers from some equally gorgeous friends the other day as part of my birthday present. It was quite a lovely surprise when the courier came knocking on my doorstep. I’m quite excited about the box the flowers came in as well. You can’t tell from the picture, but it has some fancy embossing and detailing and the lid has a quaint little handle. When the flowers eventually die, I’ll be able to use the box to store many other merry little fancy things! I might make a post about that later, with more detailed photographs of the box (which is shaped like a miniature hat box – how cute!).

hello, world!

Why, hello there!

I’m not that good with introductions so let’s just cut to the chase. After much deliberation (paired with having a lot of spare time on my hands recently) I’ve decided on starting one of these things. My last attempt at keeping a journal/diary was when I was about 8 years old (and I gave up after about a week as I didn’t have much to write about at all). I’m not quite sure what direction this blog will go in yet. Possibly just a rambling collection of my thoughts on all things fashion/art/music/things-that-are-fancy-in-general.

Anyway, blogspot – I hope we have a long and prosperous relationship (that lasts much longer than one week).
