barefoot bowls

More film photos. These are from a session of barefoot bowls the other weekend. Don’t let the sun and blue skies in these photos fool you though, it was terribly gusty and the wind chill was horrible. That’s partly why I fashioned myself a turban/headscarf thingo – to keep my hair from flying all over the joint (note: take accessorising to the next level by matching your turban to your cupcake!) See that second photo? I bowled that. Winner! Seeing as I bowled at least 5 balls into the gutter during the course of the game, I savoured my moment of glory for as long as possible (hence the photo). Anyway, it was a fun day and I can now say that I am at least semi-proficient in the art of bowls. My nanna would be so proud.

    Looks a nice day still! I hate hair going everywhere in the wind! My hair always goes supremely disgusting after just a short while!

  10. Hannah October 29, 2010

    Lol, everytime I go (tenpin) bowling I'll go realy badly, but every few turn redeem myself and get a strike.

    I think lawn bowls is the new 'thing' in Brisbane at least. Awesome.

    I think bowls is fantastic in a totally non-ironic way. The pace is slow, you can take all the time you want, eat and drink and sit down till your turn. Totally awesome! I'm new to your blog so thanks for having me πŸ™‚

  18. herecomesthesun October 30, 2010

    @ching @Marinka: google 'lawn bowls'. I don't really know how else to explain it haha.

    @ALittleBrighter: I've learnt it's much more exciting in real life!

    @Kallie: *phew* the turban served its purpose then I suppose.

    @JadaC @filthyg: thanks!

    @Vicky: I'm never letting this baby out of my sight haha

    @Eilish: it's fun. Definitely give it a go one day.

    @Madeline: the worst is when it sticks to your lip gloss!

    @Hannah: It seems to be that way hey, although I kind of understand why now (riverfront location, cheap alcohol… and the fact it's a fun afternoon activity of course).

    @MaryLee @Jessica @lilpixie @jenny @hannah: thanks!

    @MsChyme: it most definitely was πŸ™‚

    @anab: thanks for visiting! You've absolutely hit the nail on the head re: bowls as well.

    @herecomesthesun: thanks. I used a Canon Sureshot 76 zoom

    @MamushkaMarie: thanks
