straight from the seventies

Tonight I’m going to a 21st with a ‘Rock Around The Clock’ theme. Basically, you have to come dressed in your favourite fashion of the 50s, 60s or 70s. Now, costume-wise, this was a very difficult decision for me to make. If I could, I’d probably have an outfit for each decade. When I first got the invitation I envisioned a 50s housewife ensemble. Then, I started daydreaming about funky mod costumes. But alas, I didn’t have the time or resources to pull one together. Then I remembered this maxi dress that my mum has… straight from the 70s (or thereabouts). So a 70s, hippie-ish costume it was. I’m also using the word costume lightly because, well, this isn’t going to be one of thsoe costumes that are just a tacky, caricature of a hippie. I’m going for something authentic! lol. This has probably been the easiest ‘costume’ I’ve ever put together. Ever. And that’s saying something. Me and my friends are those people that jump at any chance to dress up. Sometimes it can be a bit embarassing. Like the time we rocked up to an ’80s party’ but we were the only ones fully rocking the 80s costumes. The most 8os thing anyone else was wearing was a bit of fluoro on a shirt, or a mullet wig. Sigh.

For tonight I’m channelling that ethereal, earth-child kind of look. If I had access to daisies I may have even made a daisy chain headband. But instead I have my feather/bead/button plaited head thing.
