Decorate: Pastel Spaces

I’ve been on a bit of a homewares/interiors kick lately. So much so that I’ve been opting for interior design magazines over the fashion variety. Add to that the seemingly never ending content on Pinterest and you’ve got yourself a verifiable obsession in in the making. I’ve been loving all things pastel sick at the moment so it’s no surprise that it’s a trend that has translated over into my design inspirations. While I’m not sure I could deal being surrounded by floor to ceiling pastels in my home, I do like the idea of subtle pastel touches here and there to soften up a space.

2. Soft blue and pink living room via House & Garden.
3. ‘Circus’ styling via Kim Timmerman.
4. Styling by Julia Green for Inside Out magazine April 2014 via Poppytalk.
5. Warm pink living room photographed by Clive Tompsett.

Oh yes… when I saw the cover of this month's Inside Out magazine I fell in love.
I think pastels would be very do-able with maybe a navy or very dark grey base? But I don't want to feel like I'm living inside a cupcake with sprinkles either.
Moving house while watching The Block didn't help me…

Have you seen the cover of Real Living too? It's pretty swoony. Agree with you on the dark base. I think pastel accents on a neutral base can be pretty versatile and not too over the top.

Yes! I usually choose Inside Out over Real Living but this month I needed both – whoops.

I just love these, especially the last image which I've favorited numerous times elsewhere on the internet. 🙂

I had seen it and variations of it so many times on Pinterest but it was never properly credited. Only just found some form of credible source for it in the past few days!

Can't say I've actually considered pastels before but the 4th image with the pink kinda works for me.

Would never have picked that! On paper the idea of pink walls and pastel bedding and art seems like overkill but it surprisingly works here. I think the wooden floors and furniture balance it all out quite nicely.

ahh I can't be stuffed with fashion magazines anymore either. Interiors and cooking magazines are where its at! maybe we can do a magazine swap sometime. I would love to get vogue living australia, so good. I could send you something french?

I love looking at interior magazines, cutting them up and making boards of my favourites. I cannot wait to have my own place to I can put my stamp on it! I love the last photo, pink is not a good colour for me usually but I love it 🙂
