farewell, my queen

Last night I went and saw Farewell, My Queen as part of the French Film Festival that’s currently on in Brisbane. I guess, historically, the story of the the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette has always captured the imagination and interest of audiences. Farewell, My Queen is set in Versailles and follows one of the Queen’s readers in the days after the storming of the Bastille. It’s a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at the mood in Versailles and the rising tension and division experienced by both the aristocracy and servants. Having a soft spot for costume dramas, not to mention the Palace of Versailles being one of my favourite places ever, this film was a must-see on my list. The French Film Festival is running across various major cities in Australia during March and April and you can find more information on the Alliance Français French Film Festival website.

Agreed. I want to see all the films! I think I'm going to go again to see Camille Rewinds before the festival ends.
