diy: tie-front cropped sweater

Inspired by the Acne version I saw on my-wardrobe.com, I thought I’d try and DIY my own on the cheap. It’s a bit of a hack job, but oh well. All that’s needed is a cheap sweater ($9 from Big W), some scissors, and basic sewing skills (optional). Longer sweaters are probably better so you can get the proper length needed to tie a decent sized bow on the front. Otherwise, use the material that you’ve cut off to extend the ties (which is what I did – hence the sewing skills).

Cut the ribbed band off before drawing up your outline.
Cut to your desired length of ‘cropped-ness’ and create something similar to this shape.
Extend the ties if necessary. Leave the hem raw, or sew for a neater finish. Tie the front and ta-da! Dunzo.

I love it. I love Acne jumpers but I just can’t justify spending +$200.00 for what is essentially a jumper … Unlike other items of clothing it’s fairly simple to find a cute jumper for a low price and still be reasonably happy with the quality.
