collared shirts and clogs

DIY shirt, thrifted skirt, Sportsgirl clogs, Bop Bijoux ring

For the longest time, I had been on the hunt for a sleeveless collared shirt (that didn’t feature a Ralph Lauren pony). In the end I caved and just DIY’d one by cutting the sleeves clean off of a dress shirt. Of course, as the story always goes, the next time I went shopping I saw them pretty much everywhere. I think this is one of the universal laws of shopping – when you are desperately seeking a particular item, you can never find it; and when you are no longer looking or in need of the item, it seems to pop up at every turn.

    It is TOTALLY a universal law. Very clean, simple look. I love the clogs, they make the outfit.

    I definitely been searching for shortsleeved or sleeveless blouses for the really hot summer now…

    Soph I am loving all these outfit posts! You have inspired me to make more of an effort to do them myself.

    That is a great idea with the white shirt, I found a sleeveless one before I went away without trying it on and it is a really weird shape so I might just try this instead.

    I really like your necklace, can I ask where it is from?

    i've always wanted to try a sleeveless collared shirt with a bold chunky necklace… what you did with this white shirt is great!

    i see you're wearing "that" amethyst necklace – i was wearing mine just yesterday! 🙂

    Oh! This is such a good idea. I have been looking for the perfect sleeveless shirt for awhile, but the collars are always too high! This will be much easier to track down!

    that's absolutely right! i often seek a particular item but end up find nothing. so whenever i go shopping i always tend to not over-think everything i want and just let it flow. haha

    @Mez: they definitely anchor the outfit – I tried it with cream flats but it felt a bit meh

    @rosanguyen: try DIY! haha

    @Becky-May: thanks for the comparison!

    @TheVelvetBow: The necklace was actually a gift from Blackswan (the commentor below you). I think she found it in a crystal shop in Bondi though.

    @Blackswan: Because it's amaaaaaazing. I never used to wear necklaces before but I wear this one all the time! I have you to thank haha

    @ALittleBrighter: definitely. A little alteration goes a long way.

    @Jessica: I like the 'let it flow' mantra when it comes to op-shopping, but when it comes to normal shopping I find that it causes me to buy heaps of random stuff I don't need haha

    @LuuH: That is a dilemma. Luckily this one hardly ever got worn as a long sleeved shirt

    This is definitely a fashion phenomenon, it was the same for me and Chelsea boots. Desperately hunting for the perfect pair for MONTHS, and then when at last eBay came up trumps, they were then everywhere. Sod's law it seems. DIY is the quickest (and cheapest) way forward it seems!jazzy ♥

    @LyricandThread: I used to do the same! Lucky I got them for Christmas otherwise I'd still be lusting after them

    @Bonnie: If we were in the same vicinity I'd let you borrow it no problems! haha

    @MoPie: ahh you are too kind!

    @Bec: yay for matchy clogs! I wanted to tan ones but they didn't have my size. booo. That said, these ones made a very nice stand in. And that ring you linked to is all sorts of amazing!

    @Stacy: haha seeing all the cosy winter outfits in northern hemisphere blogs makes me crave winter!

    @Michelle: true. There is immense satisfaction (and a tiny bit of smugness lol) in being able to say "I did it myself"

    @Summer and @LVE+JOY: thanks for following 🙂

    @AlwaysChasing: oh that's always a dilemma. Understandable. Although I think a lavender shirt would look lovely! (Where was it? I might be able to snap it up! haha)

    @avalonne: no worries! thanks for the well wishes. And I hear you on the AA shirts – although due to inflation they'd end up costing a lot more in Australia. Crazy, isn't it?
