diy lace trimmed shorts

Inspired by the original Lover shorts, Chow from Heart + Bleecker‘s penchant for wearing them, and DIYs from both The Velvet Bow and A Pair and a Spare, I decided to jump on board the lace-trimmed shorts bandwagon. I had intended to do a step by step kind of post, starting from scratch. But that went down the drain when I mixed up my measurements and made my shorts too small (even though my practice pair turned out fine). So it turned into a salvage mission and, at the end of the day, I don’t think those instructions would have been of much help to anyone. The only instructions I can give are: get yourself a pair of shorts and sew some lace along the edges! If you can’t sew, hot glue guns are your new best friend.

On another note, please take the time to check out the following links. In the wake of the Queensland flood disaster, more and more people are coming up with ingenious ways of donating to the cause. I’m sure there are many more out there, but these are just two that have come to my attention:

1. Art4Heart Art Auction: With the likes of Courtney Brims, Kelly Smith, Catherine Campbell, Flossy P and Lauren Carney on board, the main question here is which piece of art to bid on! If you’ve ever wanted to own a piece by any of these artists, now is the time to get buying.
2. Pedestrian.tv Flood Relief Auction: a range of items and experiences are on offer here. From personal photo shoots to a tailor-made Gail Sorronda dress, there’s something to suit everyone.
So have a browse and if you see something that you like, don’t hesitate in placing a bid!

Great look. We used to call those 'tap shorts'.

A great concept for the flood relief. The Pedestrian.tv link had some great stuff. I donated some vintage stuff to the Etsy Golf Relief Fund.
