rainy day reads

It’s raining, it’s pouring, and all I want to do is cosy up on the couch with a cup of Earl Grey and a good book. This is what my reading list looks like at the moment. I’m currently half way through Decline and Fall. Next up is Look At The Birdie, followed by the Andy Warhol book. Russh and Frankie are my ‘light reads’, to flick through in between all the more taxing stuff. What are you reading at the moment?

I started reading Angela's Ashes yesterday. It's witty and serious at the same time which I quite like although I just know it's going to be incredibly sad which I'm not looking forward to.

Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close by Jonathon Safran Foer
..it is just the most beautiful book you will ever read, I cannot recommend it enough! πŸ™‚

I feel like I've read all the books on my shelf to death, though, I can't wait to get down the bookshop and snap up something new

I'm not reading anything atm, as usual lately. My eyesight is questionable. I get headaches reading, but don't need glasses πŸ˜›
    Go figure.
BUT, one of my all time favourites is Aesop's Fables. A fairly quick read, full of short tales with morals at the end.
I imagine it was the sort of book that taught children lessons in the 1800's!
3 books waiting to be read: Alice in Wonderland, Clouds (non-fiction) and Welcome to your Brain (also non-fiction).

I desperately miss Frankie, it was my bible when I was in Oz. Will have to try and get hold of an international subscription haha. Or would you be interested in doing a trans-continental magazine swap? πŸ™‚ jazzy β™₯

You have great tastes in magazines! (And books.)
Right now I have a lot of reading for classes but I'm taking breaks with Nylon and my favorite parts of One the Road by Jack Kerouac.

I'm ashamed to say this but I'm reading all the True Blood books and I need to buy the 9th and 10th book. I didn't get into Twilight, this is more my age gap I think.
It's raining non stop here in the Hunter Valley. So much that our river keeps rising and we might flood! Eeeeekk!

  20. Those look like wonderful reads. I just finished Dracula and now I'm searching for something new to start. I might look into that Kurt Vonnegut book, I loved the other books I read by him.

    I love Kurt Vonnegut!

I am concurrently reading Junky by William S Burroughs, Kafka on the shore by Haruki Murakami and trying to plough my way through crime and punishment.

@vintjunky: I'd love to hear your thoughts on that Keith Richards biography. I can only imagine the stories he could tell! haha.

@curiousconstellation: Angela's Ashes is a great read. When you finish, you should try and read 'Tis – it's a continuation of the story.

@lizzie: I must put that on my list. I keep hearing such good things about that book.

@claire: I think you can get an international subscription through the frankie website? If not I'm sure we can organise something!

@pipalachic: no need to be ashamed. I want to start reading them to see what all the fuss is about (although look where that got me with Twilight – I'd like those hours of my life reading that drivel back please haha). I need to steal them off a friend of mine but keep forgetting. Hope the rain eases off in your neck of the woods. I keep hearing about all the flooding on the news. Very worrying!

@Sofie: thank you so much for those kind words. You're too sweet!

@Lauren: I'll have to put that on my reading list too! I can't wait to see the film (I don't think it's out here yet)

    @manna: Harry Potter win!

@Shannon: "trying to plough my way through crime and punishment" – this pretty much sums up exactly my experience with that book haha

@Mani: oh I've been known to get into a no-reading rut every now and again. And then I try and rectify it by getting out a zillion books from the library and then not being able to read them all in time haha

thanks for the recommendations! I've been really into reading lately. Hours of commuting does that, I guess.

I just finished 'Quiet Please (Dispatches from a Public Librarian)' today, and about to start 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn', and I also just borrowed 'Dreaming of Dior', which is more of a visual treat.

I love to relax with a great read, whatever it may be. At the moment, I'm in between browsing lastest russh, vogue, maddison, reading marching powder, while trying to absorb online business tips for dummies and reading up on uni courses… lots of reading.
