scholar

Yesterday, a group of us girls went op-shopping with the intent of finding some outfits for Splendour in the Grass (did I mention that I’m going? Yes, after what can only be describe as the three most nerve wracking hours of my life, I managed to secure tickets). Op-shopping seemed like the perfect solution because the clothes are cheap; it won’t particularly matter if they get wrecked from five days of festival and camping madness; and if at the end of the five days they end up wrecked, you can always bin them. However, the outfit hunt proved to be a bit of a lost cause. Not wanting to come away completely empty handed, I picked up this nifty blazer and little suitcase whatsit. Together, I think that the combination looks quite scholarly. The suitcase needs to be lined and cleaned up a little bit on the outside, but eventually I plan on using it to store an assortment of socks and scarves and gloves and other pretty things.

    Yeah, I always wanna look nice when I go to concerts. But then there's always that worry that what I'm wearing will get ruined, so you're smart. Op shopping for a festival is the way to go! Awesome blazer btw!

    @Jes: I know it doesn't compare, but I think they're bringing a few of the acts to Perth. The Bright Side Festival? You should check it out!

    @liana: Oh I passed up on Parklife… it was such a tough decision… Missy Elliot and Dandy's!!

    @Christina: I'd been on the hunt for one for ages, and finally the op-shop gods shone down on me haha.

    @Sundari: bummer! But it'll be sideshows galore come the end of the month, so who knows, you might nab tickets to something else?

    @Lola: I'm not the most seasoned op-shopper so can't be of much help. Paddington is usually a good place to start, although they're already pretty edited there. Out in the burbs there are a few gems. But I think it's a bit of a hit-and-miss kind of thing. One day I just plan on driving around Brisbane and stopping off at every op shop I see, haha.

    @Nicole: 'cept it is in Woodford this year 😉 I'll keep an eye out though!

    @evieapples: Yay for Splendour blogging crew! I'll keep an eye out for you too 🙂

    @Claire: no forgotten tickets, but a few "Karen 4 *name scribbled out*" written on the inside lid haha.

    @Rebecca: Oh yes, I think I nearly died of excitement when I saw the lineup. Goodness knows how distraught I would have been if I had missed out on tickets!

    @Krislyn: Do it! Although half the trouble is finding a suitcase in the first place.

    @EvaKaren: THANKS

    @Amanda: definitely. And with camping on top of that… here's hoping the op shops deliver in round 2 of the outfit hunt!

    @Hiroko: Ohhhh I could definitely do that! Gotta love a Breakfast at Tiffany's reference.

    @Carissa: I found the suitcase in a thrift store.

    MrsFord: Op-shopping (opportunity shopping) is just an Australian term for thrifting or charity shopping.
