cupcakes, clothes swaps

On Saturday one of my friends held a bit of a tea party and clothes swapping session (came away with some cute play clothes and two black dresses… oh and two bow headbands – you know my stance on bow headbands, I just couldn’t help myself!) I wish that cheese and crackers, slice, profiteroles, blueberry twists, and cupcakes made up a balanced diet. The cupcakes were my contribution to the tea party. They are the same ones I always make. I hardly every branch out. I know cupcakes are so 2008 and that macarons are the trend these days, but I’ve stayed true to the cupcake since I was 5 years old. That won’t be changing any time soon.

    Ha, cake trends. Macaroons may look pretty but I don't think they taste that amazing, give me a cupcake any day! Especially if it looks as pretty as these.

    I've been on so many blogs with pictures of cupcakes on them! I'm having a major craving for them now. And the whole process involved in making them too.
    Ahh and cheese and crackers β™₯

    @kittycat: You should definitely organise one with your friends. It's basically freeeeeee!

    @CottonSocks: Why thank you. These are probably closer to the patty cake side of things. So you can't really go wrong because it's basically just a sponge cake haha. The best decorated cupcake I ever had looked like Cookie Monster. I don't think anything will ever compete. And when I say blueberry twist, I mean a blueberry twisty bread bun thing with icing on top. I can't remember what they are actually called. It seemed much simpler to just say 'blueberry twist' and confuse everyone haha.

    @Kallie: No, I didn't make the flowers. I picked them up in the supermarket πŸ™‚

    @Melini: Oh I like your timeline. I think I need to on top of this donut business. I wonder what the it-treat of 2011 will be?

    Did you make these cupcakes??? They look amazing. I love making cupcakes, but I feel like a cheater, because I make them out of the box. I want to make them from scratch sometime! Then take photos, hehe! Whoa, I should make my own icing too. Oh sounds like you guys had fun! πŸ™‚

    Oh I bought the white sailor playsuit! It's not actually a dress! I went back and bought it and it wasn't that expensive! Super happy and giddy πŸ™‚

    @daydreaminblue: It actually ended up being more of a clothes take, since my friend is moving overseas and was culling her wardrobe. Hopefully your friends like cupcakes, so you can always have a tea party at least πŸ™‚

    @avalonne: Yep, my made them from scratch. Pretty basic ingredients list: self raising flour, eggs, butter, caster sugar, vanilla essence. And yay for the sailor playsuit!

    @Meggstatus: Hopefully I'll avoid the jail time, haha.

    @JunePaski: Thanks!
