night lights

These photos came from the same roll of film as my Sunset Sounds photos. It was late at night and I couldn’t get to sleep (too many vodka Red Bulls – never again!) So I decided to try out the “B” setting on my Holga 135BC. I didn’t know how long to keep the shutter open so I just guesstimated. I kept the camera stable by placing it on the floor of the balcony. Lucky it was floor to ceiling glass. You can see the floor in the corner of the second photo. The first photo must be a double exposure. It took me a while to figure that one out. All in all, I’m quite happy with how they turned out. I might try taking night photos more often.

beautiful photos, good improvising with the floor instead of a tripod. I was wondering if maybe the top one isnt a double exposure but maybe if there was reflections on the glass wall?

    Thanks all.

@ bowsnhearts: this camera is actually pretty cheap quality – it's all plastic, even the lens. It's not what you use, it's how you use it ๐Ÿ˜‰

@ s and o: yep, that's a ferris wheel. I've never actually been on it though. Maybe I'll put it on my to do list.

@ chloe: that's what I first thought, but then I realised that the ferris wheel is in the 'wrong' place and that the river runs at two different angles. If that makes any sense. And I think I took 3 photos. And since only 2 showed up on the negs I safely assumed I just forgot to wind on for one ๐Ÿ™‚

@ an92: unfortunately no, that's not the view from my home. We rented an apartment in the city for the festival. I have to say though, after two days of apartment living, I'm quite put off it. Too much time waiting for elevators etc haha.

They're so great! I've been too scared to use my diana at night because of the whole long exposure thing, and I never like to waste film… But you've inspired me to test it out! (Gotta love the Brisbane version of the London Eye too.. always makes me laugh!)
