I kind of went off Alice McCall when things went a bit fluoro a few years ago, but the latest collection may be enough to win me back. There’s a bit of something for everyone – sweet party frocks, black and white ‘basics’, and some bold statement pieces (an Alice McCall collection wouldn’t be an Alice McCall collection without at least one boldly patterned garment). The only thing missing from the collection, in my opinion, are pants. Because leggings are not pants. I get that in some parts of Australia you can survive winter without having to don a pair, and maybe some people prefer to wear stockings or leggings under dresses instead, but I still think a F/W collection would at least have one pair of pants? Anyway, enough with my pants rant. The main test will be seeing what the quality of the garments is like when the collection hits stores. I’ve got my eye on the coats and tailored shorts. I wonder if the flat ankle boots are part of the collection? I hope they are. I want a pair. I hate looking at lookbooks and never knowing where the shoes are from.
