splendour sadness

In a perfect world, I would be in beautiful Byron Bay for this weekend’s Splendour in the Grass festival. But alas, we don’t live in a perfect world, and I am not going to Splendour. I’ve long come to accept the fact that shit happens, and you miss out on tickets (in my case, twice!). Even if they are in your (proverbial) hands. Yes, that’s right, I’m looking at you Qjump, you and your bank error debacle. So for the first time in two years, I am at home, one of those unlucky punters wishing they were experiencing the joy that is Splendour.

On the brightside though, I have come up with a quick list to counter my Splendour sadness:
1. I’ve saved myself a whoooooole lot of money.
2. I’ve seen a fair few of the bands before, and it’s not the most stellar of line-ups, especially compared to the past two years (but oh how I would love to have seen Devo, Vampire Weekend and Laura Marling).
3. I’m seeing Cold War Kids tomorrow night (and was meant to be seeing Albert Hammond Jr. tonight) … so at least part of my weekend involves live music.
4. None of my friends obtained tickets either, so at least I won’t have anyone rubbing it in my face how awesome it was for the next however many weeks.

So for this beautiful Saturday morning I’ve decided to reminisce about past Splendours, and have compiled a few of my favourite Splendour photos. Enjoy.

road trip!

Yep! I have ridiculously low arches, but even then I still noticed a gap.
