dali inspired

Above are some photos from a Dali inspired Harper’s Bazaar shoot (photo credit: Richard Burbridge). I’ve always been fascinated by Dali’s artwork so when I came across these photos my heart skipped a beat or two. Burbridge has done a magnificent job. These are definitely pieces of art in their own right.

I’ve included some of Dali’s works below, just for funsies.

Swans Reflecting Elephants

The Burning Giraffe

I probably could have included The Persistence of Memory, but that would have been too cliched. While we’re on the topic, I cannot wait until the Salvador Dali exhibit comes to Melbourne next year. Apparently it will be the largest retrospective Dali exhibition staged in Australia. I’ll have to remember to save up some $$$ so I can fly down and have a looksy. Pity it’s not coming to GoMA, but then again I guess we’ve already had Warhol and Picasso.

To finish things off I’ll leave you with a bit of trivia that may (but most likely never will) come in handy. For those of you who didn’t already know, Dali also designed the Chupa Chups logo. Huzzah!

I am absolutely bursting with joy that the Dali exhibition is coming to Melbourne, there was a smaller one around 2000-2001 which I went too and wanted so badly to sit on the Mae West Lips couch.

Miss Karen, I could just imagine you on that couch! Maybe it CAN be done… with a little help from a thing called photoshop?
